How naive
"This process of election affords a moral certainty that the office of President will seldom fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications."
--Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 68, 14 March 1788
Except that we don't have the original Consititutional process of election. It is now a popularity contest. Principle and morality went out a long time ago.
