.....We are still to believe in the coming global warming?

Really great in theory......

From The Patriot Post
"On the other hand, the duty imposed upon him to take care, that the laws be faithfully executed, follows out the strong injunctions of his oath of office, that he will 'preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.' The great object of the executive department is to accomplish this purpose; and without it, be the form of government whatever it may, it will be utterly worthless for offence, or defence; for the redress of grievances, or the protection of rights; for the happiness, or good order, or safety of the people."
--Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833
...until we elect a President that has no respect for the Constitution, or thinks he can improve it.

An excellent quote

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” – Samuel Adams
Thanks to the comments at John Cox Art.

The simple solution not chosen

All the concern over prayer in school and Establishment Clause concerns could be easily fixed. Get rid of government run education and mandatory education. But like most of the problems we have today, caused by the government doing things it shouldn't and are actually unconstitutional, the fixes are always more government interference, either from agencies, Congress, or the courts.

To remove government from its improper functions in this country is like taking a junkie off his dope, and the process would be very similar with all the pain, and resistance, and a constant possibility of back-sliding.

Some things have changed......

From Founder's Quote Daily, a service of The Patriot Post
"For myself the delay [in assuming the office of the President] may be compared with a reprieve; for in confidence I assure you, with the world it would obtain little credit that my movements to the chair of Government will be accompanied by feelings not unlike those of a culprit who is going to the place of his execution: so unwilling am I, in the evening of a life nearly consumed in public cares, to quit a peaceful abode for an Ocean of difficulties, without that competency of political skill, abilities and inclination which is necessary to manage the helm."
--George Washington, comment to General Henry Knox, March 1789

.....From 200 years ago.

Find a politician reluctant to take office today, or for that matter that is modest about his/her abilities.

How naive

"This process of election affords a moral certainty that the office of President will seldom fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications."
--Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 68, 14 March 1788

Except that we don't have the original Consititutional process of election. It is now a popularity contest. Principle and morality went out a long time ago.

Like I said.......

The Patriot Post
Founders' Quote Daily
"Finally, there seem to be but three Ways for a Nation to acquire Wealth. The first is by War as the Romans did in plundering their conquered Neighbours. This is Robbery. The second by Commerce which is generally Cheating. [emphasis mine, bk] The third by Agriculture the only honest Way; wherein Man receives a real Increase of the Seed thrown into the Ground, in a kind of continual Miracle wrought by the Hand of God in his favour, as a Reward for his innocent Life, and virtuous Industry."

-- Benjamin Franklin (Positions to be Examined, 4 April 1769)

....Ben Franklin was at least a liberal if not a socialist

Nothing is new---note the date

From Founder's Quotes Daily, a service of Patriot News:
"I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious."
--Thomas Jefferson, letter to Thomas Cooper, 29 November 1802
