I generally enjoy Ann Coulter, not for depth and intellectual accumen of her commentary, but for her excellent invective. Generally, if one wants to see insults at their best, she is a great examplar. However, today's column, "The flash mob method of scientific inquiry" as read in the Jewish World Review shows that she would be best off keeping her commentary to political matters.

Despite her desires otherwise, Intellegent Design is not a valid counter to the Theory of Evolution. That the theory of evolution has places where it is weak, is true. That is not the same as disproof. In trying to discuss a topic obviously outside her area of competence, she has lowered her standing in my eyes. Her bold pronouncement

This morning I suddenly had this horrible realization that the success of those who want embryonic stem-cell research accomplishes a most monsterous goal--the reduction of human beings to experimental animals.

The riots are not the result of poverty, but the result of failure to teach values, insist on ethical behavior, failure to respect property rights. They are the outcome from relativist ethics, and the liberal approach to life--life is a zero-sum game, therefore only redistribution is fair. This is simply another form of redistribution, with the same moral substrate. Create young people with no objective way to create a feeling of self-worth, and then add "if it feels good, do it" attitudes to their already lousy self-image, and destruction is guaranteed.

What is disgusting is the response of the non-leadership of government--more liberal ideology. Instead of force, rapidly and accurately applied, there is blather about reasoning with them. These are rabid animals when they are rioting, not human beings. They need to be quickly and forcebly restrained. Because they are biological humans, one doesn't simply shoot them, but water cannon would have been a lot smarter than the BS that got bandied about.

The US still at least believes in suppression of riots as fast as possible. However, we are teaching the same ideology in our schools and rapidly depriving our young people of the means to find work and meaning when we raise the minimum wage. It will be coming here in a few years if things don't change.
